10 Days of Valentines- Day 1

Happy Monday everybody. For the next 10 days I will be posting Valnetine's Day projects. I'm not usually one to do alot for Valnetine's Day so I'll be stepping out of my comfort zone for the next few days. Sometimes it's good to do that right? or at least that's what I've heard.

So with out further adue, today's project is a CASE from Becky Roberts, thanks Becky. It's a sucker holder made with the scalloped envelope die and those heart shaped suckers you can find at any local grocery store or pharmacy.

Good morning Crafters. I hope that you all had a good weekend and are ready for a fabulous week. My weekend started with my Sassy Stampers Hostess Club meeting Friday night. This group of ladies have been meeting for about 3 years and we always have such a great time together. Frankly, I look forward to meeting with them because they love to create and their energy is contagious. You can imagine the energy flowing through my dining room Friday night after my being at Leadershipa few weeks and the energy they already have. WEEE WEEE WEEE (imagine the pig on the zipline in the Geico commercial). Not to mention we had SUGAR too!

Leadership Swap

Good morning everyone, I have spent the most amazing few days in San Antonio at Stampin' Up! Leadership. I received so many awesome swaps while I have been here and remembered that I forgot to share with you the swap that I created.

Happy New year

I hope that everyone's New Year has started off well. I am working on reorganizing/decluttering my craft room. Boy, was this past holiday season a crafty one...yes, I will be posting pictures soon of all the things that I created over the holidays.

I held a Christmas Tag class and it was a hit (I will be sure to post photos of the tags as well), now I am working on a banner for valentines day.

Mr. Right (my husband) was so handy around the house, as usual, during the holidays. He helped hang the lights outside and we wound up getting into a "who has the biggest yard ornament" war with the neighbors....all in good fun of course. Our holidays were so good, we spent time with my parents, looked at Christmas lights. My cousin took me to see the Nutcracker Ballet with her twins...I was so honored to be invited to go with them.

I am in cleaning mode right now, but I wanted to be sure and post a little so everyone knew I was still living...although I am buried under a mountain of craft supplies, I am still living Ha!

Vintage Toilet Paper Roll Album

Goodmorning, hope that you are all well today. I met with my Sassy Stampers group this past Friday and we created a mini toilet paper album and guess what, it had a vintage feel...go figure. But, it was so stinking cute, if I do say so myself. Here are photos of the pages.

I used Stampin' Up! Beau Chateau designer series paper,beau chateau side notes, soft suede ink, soft suede, pink piroquette, marina mist tafetta ribbon, various Stampin' Up! stamp sets.

Hey there, it's time to Mojo again. I have been feeling a little "vintage" lately...maybe it has to do with the recent birthday and all the changes that have been going on in my life this year? Who knows! I like vintage, I've always been attracted to old things. I love anything that looks used and worn. The more beat up something is, the more I love it. Our home is filled with items we have found at junk shops, dug out of the garbage and repurposed/refinished or even been given to us. I love to think of the ways that the people who owned them before used them in there homes and lives. Here is the sketch for today's Mojo Monday Challenge

and here is the card I created for the challenge. Hope you like it and are inspired to create your own vintage version.

For this card I used: card stock: pretty in pink, soft suede, pink piroquette, beau chateau dsp; ink: soft suede; basic pearls; victoria lace trim.

Look Who's 40

Well, yesterday was my birthday and I turned the BIG 40! Wow, 40 years...I don't feel 40. Then again, what does 40 feel like? This is a sassy picture that my DH took of me a few months ago. I like it because it is fun.

We went to have dinner with my parents, my cousin and her husband and my BFF Angela. I had a good time. Hope you all have a blessed day!

Christmas in July

Independance Day

Happy 4th of July to everyone, I hope that you all have a very wonderful holiday. We celebrated our 4th with family and friends yesterday. It was lots of fun, we went swimming and visited with family. It was just a really relaxing day.

Today I will be in my craft room cleaning from the remodel (I will post photos later). It is amazing when you do a remodel how the rest of your home suffers. No matter how hard you try to keep the other rooms in order, the stuff from the room you're remodeling ends up all over the rest of the house and I'm about sick of it! The next time we do this, I'm hiring a Genie to take it all away and bring it all back when it's finished. Anybody know where I can hire a good Genie?

Well, enough of my rambling...I'm hoping to get some creative projects posted soon. have a good day and be careful with the fireworks.

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Look what I woke up to this morning....My husband snuck into my craft room and made me this adorable card out of some scrap paper that I had laying out on my desk. I knew he had creative tendancies. He is always been so supportive of my Stampin' Up! business, he helps me load up the car for workshops and is usually right there pushing me w/ things like "you have 20 more minutes and you need to go" I think sometimes he's just trying to get me out of the house so he can watch his ESPN in peace LOL! None the less, I love him for his support and was pleasantly suprised by his gift this morning.

I love the look of chocolate and pink, it makes me think of a chocolate cupcake w/ pink frosting MMM that sounds like a good treat for Valentines day! Christmas Tag Tree

This Year I participated in a Christmas Tag Swap w/20 ladies from three different States. It was so much fun! We made 20 tags and sent them off to our wonderful coordinator Christin and she lovingly seperated all the tags, repackaged and mailed them all back to us. It was like receiving 20 nice little Christmas gifts! I thought about using the tags on my Christmas gifts, but there were so many different beautiful tags that I just can't seem to part with them, so here is what I did.......

This Tree is in my kitchen and is the first thing seen as you walk in the door. I can't think of any better way to end my day than to be greated w/creativity. (well, except for the wagging tail of my loving dog Hunie)

I took a few close ups of all the tags, you can see them below. I didn't capture all of them because this would make for a very long post!

Secret Sister

So, I have been a Secret Sister to one of the ladies at our church since October. The idea was to pray for this special lady on a daily basis. Also, to provide gifts of inspiration throughout the month. One of the rules was that any gift we gave had to be hand made. Last night we had our progressive dinner and big "Secret Sister" Reveal. This is what I made for my Sister! I loved it so much that I had to make one for my self.

What I used: 5x7 picture frame, retired SU DSP, SU Real Red & Always artichoke CS, SU Confetti & Cream CS, SU 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon. Hope you enjoy!

The Same "BUT" Different

This is a card that we made at our "Scrappy Stampers" meeting in August. We met at Ms. Donna's, and let me tell you she has a beautiful home! It just amazes me that we can make the same exact card yet every one's turned out different. Take a look and see if you can tell the differences.

You see, some of the colors are darker and more saturated than the others.

I think that they all turned out beautiful. We used a technique using versamark and Stampin' Pastels!

Above is a picture of our little group. The quality of the photo isn't that great because I took it with my blackberry....but you can still tell that we are all GORGEOUS!! Oh, and the wall behind us is in Ms. Donna's entry way. Her mother painted it and it has a barn yard scene on it! It's really something to see! Thank you Ms. Donna for hosting last month. We all had a blast as usual!

Hey there everyone, hope you have all been doing well. We have been getting some fantastic rain. I think that the Hubby said a little over 11 inches so far! Praise the Lord for the rain! Well, we had our monthly Stamp Club meeting yesterday and it was a blast. I had so much fun! We have a group of 8 ladies and they are absolutely TALENTED. We did our first official "card swap" and the cards that I came home with are so beautiful I had to share them with you.

Birthday Bliss

August 15 was my 38th birthday and my wonderful friends Lisa & Carmen took me shopping at the scrapbook stores in Houston! We had a really great day, they took me to Novel Approach, By Design Scrapbook Boutique and Archivers (in Katy) I could not have asked for a better Birthday! I think that Carmen and I spent every scent we had...I think Lisa left her Credit Cards at home on purpose! LOL! The comment from my husband when he saw the bank account the other day was "Well, you sure had fun in Houston huh?" I told him that he wasn't allowed to look at the charges for that day...those were birthday dollars & they don't count LOL!

This store had all the new BoBunny papers and a ton of others as well, if you want rubber or clear stamps, this is the store to go to! It is AWESOME and the staff is super nice

You see what I mean (don't laugh at the photo, I was being silly...it was my birthday)! I try to hit BDSB whenever I am in the Houston area, the staff and owner are so nice. Me Shopping the isles of Novel approach, I wish I had a photo of their stamp room, it it truly the place to go for any kind of stamp. Oooh and they sell Unity stamps too!

On our way home we stopped and ate at Pei Wei and then went by Whole Foods, I'm a nut about my coffee and I can only get the kind I love at whole foods. Im such a nut about it that my friend Melissa in San Anonio calls me to see if we need coffee every time she goes to the store!

Okay, this photo here is of me and My Hubby the next night after the trip! He put together a suprise birthday dinner for me w/all my family & trust me we have a big family! I think we had a total of 20 or so of us there. I am truly blessed, great friends, great family I could not have asked for a better birthday! I cannot express how much I love all of you!

Shakin' By The Sea

This is a Shaker Card we created at a Stamp Club meeting, you know we should really come up with and name for our little group. Anyway, I got the idea from http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ Split Coast has an abundance of ideas for cards and things. Beate Johns is the lady that posted the turtorial. I just took her idea and changed it around a bit, so you could say I "Scraplifted"....I do alot of that these days. I used the new SU papers Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue & Confetti & Cream (for the shells). The shells were cut out using a Cuttle Bug Die. The sand you can buy by the bag at Wal-Mart, I like the larger grain! Well, thanks for looking and have a wonderful day! Hugs!

Oh my goodness, don't faint...two posts in a row WOW! LOL Seriously, I created a card for Mojo Monday a few weeks ago and I didn't get it posted (imagine that!) So anyway, I am showing you now. I love the look of Black & White, but I've never actually created anything with those colors so I thought I'd give it a try with this card. Let me know what you think!

Back in CREATE Mode!

Hey there everyone! Whew it's been a while, I feel like I haven't slowed down in ages. Well, we had our 2nd "Crop at the Lake" and it was a huge hit (I will get some pictures out soon). We had 20 or so ladies attend and we had a blast!

As you know I have recently started a stamp/card club, and things are rolling along quite nicely, so I have been creating, I just haven't had time to post much, and I'm sorry about that!

I am including, in this post, some of the things that I have worked on since I have been away. I made a stationery set for my friend Wyndi for her birthday. I think it turned out really well and she loved it!

Still Creating

I remember as a little girl being in Grandma's kitchen while she was canning and preserving the fruits of hers and Grandpa's labor. She would make Peach Butter, Pickled Beets & the best Bread & Butter Pickles you have ever tasted. Grandma always saved me my very own jar of beets and pickles...boy I miss those days! Although they lived in the City Limits, they still had a pretty big back yard and were able to plant peach trees, have fresh eggs from the chickens and I think my Dad said the man who owned the lot next door used to let Grandpa plant his garden there because I always remember a big garden growing. We always had fresh goodies from Grandma and Grandpa! I also remember my Mother and her sisters getting together for the entire weekend at my Granny's house (Mom's mother) and canning vegetables from the garden. So I thought I'd bring back some of those memories for my self and try canning/preserving some things from our own garden, that my husband so diligently works on all year long. Take a look. I was trying my hand at Zesty Zucchini Relish. We always have a ton of zucchini and I hate for it to go bad. You can only have sauteed Zucchini so many times before it gets old you know...and seriously how many ways can you fix squash casserole?

This is a close up of the Relish boiling down before it goes into the jars.

And here it is, the finished product. Wow, I can't wait to taste it. I like to make my stuff a little spicy so this has Horse Radish and red pepper in it! MMM MMM MMM!

Now, this is something that my Grandma Lauer (Daddy's Mom) used to make for us and boy are they good. Fresh Tomato Preserves! These are really good on toast or a biscuit or I think they would be really good over Vanilla Ice Cream (I'll have to try it and let you know). My Hubby always plants more tomatoes than we can eat, I think he plants 3 different types and they are all delicious.Here they are all jared up and ready to cool down for about 24 hours. Of course I added Jalapenos and Red Pepper to one batch. I made a batch just for Mom because she doesn't like the hot stuff. Thanks Mom for coming over and giving me all the great pointers too!

Let me tell you, the ladies that lived in my grandparents day and age (and my parents for that matter) they really worked for a living you know? They may have been stay at home moms with 8-13 kids pulling on their dress hems, but they worked! It took me two whole days to get this done and my feet and back are killing me! Daddy made the comment, "and just think, your Grandma was twice your age too!" It was worth every moment/memory, especially the visit from my parents!

So needless to say, I haven't exactly been scrapbooking/papercrafting this weekend, but I feel like I've still been really creative!

Stampin Club

Hey there everyone, hope your all enjoying your summer. Well, we had our 2nd official Stampin Club meeting a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to show you what we created. We did a calendar clip board project. I just love the way these all turned out.

We used the Calendar stamp sets from the"Spring-Summer 2009" Stampin' Up! Catalog and the Stampin' Up! 3-clip clipboard.

Well, It's been awhile since I've been here and I'm sorry about that. Things have been busy as usual.....I don't think that ever ends. I have been working on some little projects here and there. Take a look at the label tags I've been making for all of my baskets that I store my Stampin' Up! stamp sets in....

What I used: SU: Very vanilla card stock, Chololate Chip Ink pad, Jumbo eyelet pewter, Bazzil colored card stock (not sure of the color), Cricuit cartridge Plantin Scoolbook.

Okay, so last week didn't go so well. I realized that the photos I posted to scrapbook weren't printed so I had to log into http://www.shutterfly.com/ and order prints of them. Well, I did just that and ordered 62 other prints as well. Enough to keep me busy for a while don't you think?

I did however manage to get a project done tonight (Just a small one). This is my first try using Copic Markers. They are alcohol based markers and blend wonderfully. Let me know what you think.

Of course in this photo you can see, if you look closely that I added a little stickles to the image to give it some pizzaz! What I used: Paper - SU Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Ribbon - SU So Saffron, Stamp Set-SU (retired) Love Ya Bunches!

Challenge Myself

Hope that everyone has been having a good weekend. I feel so ashamed that I haven't updated anything for the past two weeks. Things have been really busy around our house. I've been trying to get my scrap stuff organized...again! In the process, I have come across so many boxes of scrapping stuff I either forgot I had or bought and haven't done anything with it yet. So here is what I am going to do. I am challenging myself to do at least one project per day this week and post it here. I have a friend that started a blog www.zippycrafts@blogspot.com she manages to do at least one craft a day and I'm determined to keep up with her. She and I are both dying to get back to "Scrapbooking" instead of just paper crafting. I am going to go through my photos and get them together to scrapbook. Here are some of the photos I plan on scrapping this week.....

Thanks Wyndi for your assistance with keeping us organized and for helping to demonstrate the versatilty of the Sizzix Big Shot and the cuttlebug. How cool is it (for those of you who didn't know) that the products for these two machines are compatible....WOW!! What, you can use your Big Shot (Sizzix) Dies in your Cuttlebug??....you don't say!!

Thank you Susan (see Susan in the black back there) for demonstrating the Cricut machine and for putting together the AWESOME lunch sacks for everyone who attended....what an AWESOME job. (I'll try to post some photos of this project tomorrow)! APPLAUSE....APPLAUSE!

Thank you to my cousin, Buffy, for staying up so late with me and helping me get all my stuff together...You are a true blessing! No Time to Create

Whew what a busy week! Mom went into the hospital and was in solitary confinement for a few days. For those of you who don't know she had her thyroid taken out a few months ago and has finally been able to get finished up with the treatments she needed to get rid of any left over cancer cells. She had to do what they call a Radioactive Iodine Treatment. Dad and I joked that we could see her glowing all the way from down town. She is at home and is quarantined to the house until Monday with no visitors. Hopefully she will have a much better year this year.

I had to be in Houston for a meeting on Thursday and then drove back that night....quick trip!

I've been trying to clean up the Scrap Room today (rearrange really) I bought a Cricut machine and you know everytime I buy a new gadget I have to reorganize LOL!! I'm obsessive about the organization! I've told Mylon I won't buy anything else until I finish the projects that I have started. Ha Ha!! I hear all of you laughing out there!!!

Speaking of projects...I didn't have time to create this week, but my good friend Wyndi did and she has been so gracious as to allow me to post her projects for everyone to see. Thanks Wyndi.

Thanks to everyone who checked out my blog today. I appreciate all the feedback. Well I had really good intentions today, I was going to come home and post some creations...BUT, while at work I downloaded a virus and I had my thumb drive plugged into my computer (my projects were saved on it) and I think that the thumb drive got corrupted along with my computer! Can you say WONDERFUL!!!!

I'm really bummed too because I had all the photos that I had taken of my favorite scrapbook store in the Houston area, By Design Scrapbook Boutique. If you've never been there, you should plan to make a trip sometime. It is the COOLEST!!

I am hoping to spend a little time here this weekend adding some of my creations. Well, I must go now and I'd like to leave you with this:

The Beginning

Okay, so here goes. I'm new to the blogging world, but some of the other creative geniuses in my life have been brave enough to try so I thought I'd bite the bullet and start my own blog too. As some of you know I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and I love the art of stamping and paper crafting. As a matter of fact some of my closest friends are addicts as well!! I thought that I'd start off my blog showing you some photos of my craft room: This is where my creative juices OVER-flow. I love this desk, bought it on clearance at Pier One!

These flowers are truly an inspiration. A friend of mine (Tracy) and I saw them in a scrapbook store on one of our many shopping trips. I told her how much I loved them and she came right home and made them for me. I face them whenever I am crafting. They are my inspiration to be creative! I have to go now and make invitations for my cousin's birthday party so, I'll say good night. Maybe I'll post some more photos tomorrow. Hopefully I'll find some time to post some of my creations soon!
